Christantus Uche Ignites Dominant Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite entering their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their next match against Finnish KuPS ought to be enough to secure straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Moment
This match provided a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second consecutive match.
The Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved no match even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
