England versus the Chinese team – Female Exhibition Match

Introduction

Welcome everyone to the non-competitive match between the English side and the Chinese squad at the iconic Wembley. This promises to be an exciting contest with the reigning European champions facing the current Asian Cup champions.

The home of English football is sold-out for the occasion, which will see the celebrated Fran Kirby celebrated pre-match after her international retirement before the Euro tournament this past summer.

Lineup details will be announced shortly, but there was a late squad update for England. On Friday, the goalkeeper Khiara Keating withdrew from the squad with a minor injury, and so ex-first choice Ellie Roebuck has been summoned.

With Hannah Hampton injured, it will be notable to find out who England manager Sarina Wiegman selects in goal. That news and all the other updates are on the way before kick-off at 5.30pm GMT.

Lineup Announcements

Squad details are now available. Anna Moorhouse is the starting keeper for England in the unavailability of Hannah Hampton and Khiara Keating.

The Lionesses: Moorhouse, Bronze, Charles, Walsh, Le Tissier, Morgan, Mead, Stanway, Russo, Toone, Hemp.

Substitutes: Hings, Baggaley, Kendall, Wubben-Moy, Beever-Jones, Kelly, Kearns, Park, Blindkilde Brown, Roebuck, Clinton, Denton, Fisk, Godfrey.

We are awaiting the squad from China now; when it comes through, I will share it.

Leadership Role

Keira Walsh is captaining the Lionesses with Leah Williamson still injured. She shared these thoughts before this encounter:

Debut Alert

Tonight’s game will be Anna Moorhouse’s maiden cap for England. She featured in the Euro-winning side who claimed victory this past summer, but she did not play any minutes with Hannah Hampton in the number one shirt.
