Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest action-packed game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for embracing violence and mayhem with equal glee, all while telling captivating, ideologically themed narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose projects have embodied all of those things.

About the Series

Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game series, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' style by having a new setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX partners always encourages me with their steady trust and support.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology program. Every instalment is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can change from season to season, while always examining the core of humanity through this complex and chaotic lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to work with Rob and bring our common unconventional, visionary approach to the television.”

A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
