Liverpool Refuses to Alter Attacking Style Amid Poor Run of Form, Insists Arne Slot

The Dutch manager has announced that the team leadership share his views regarding the poor performance streak and he will not abandon their forward-thinking philosophy in search of a solution. The manager conceded that six unsuccessful results in seven games was unacceptable ahead of Saturday's match against Aston Villa.

Pressure Mounting Throughout Challenging Phase

The manager acknowledged the expectations were high before his altered lineup exited the Carabao Cup against the London club. However, he insisted that this need to reverse the decline is not coming from the team's proprietors or management structure following a summer transfer outlay of nearly £450 million.

"We share common perspectives," remarked the Liverpool boss, whose squad will encounter Real Madrid in the Champions League and play against the Citizens in the Premier League.

Squad Quality Stays Undoubted

Liverpool's manager thinks his team "boast a remarkable roster if they are completely available and completely set for the programme we are facing". He said that the recent signings in footballers like the attacking midfielder and Alexander Isak, who is expected to be sidelined again against Villa through physical problems, had left the club "in such a good place for the near future and the long-term future".

Team Cohesion Issues

When pressed on why his team were having difficulty blending, he answered: "You don't really help me. 'Why, why, why?' I give an explanation and people say I'm coming up with excuses. I can come up with five or six reasons why we are struggling for victories or losing as much as we do but, as I consistently state, there are never enough excuses to have a performance streak as we had now."

  • Even if I could come up with 200 excuses
  • As Liverpool manager you must avoid losses
  • Unfortunately six losses from seven matches

Defensive Numbers

Only the Lancashire club (21) have allowed more significant openings from regular play this season than Slot's team (nineteen). The league leaders, the Gunners, have allowed just two. Yet Liverpool's coach rejects the defense has been too vulnerable and claims there is no basis to sacrifice his attacking principles for a defensive approach after 10 games without a shutout.

"In my view we're not allowing many opportunities so I see no justification to modify our philosophy totally but we must improve in not conceding goals," he declared.

Recent Examples

"When facing United, how many opportunities did we allow? Versus the German side when we were leading 3-1, we hardly conceded a effort at our net. In all the games we have competed in we haven't conceded a lot of chances. Definitely not. We do give away a slightly more than last season but that stems from us being behind early so you become more adventurous. But typically I don't think that our issue is that we allow too many opportunities. Our issue is we fail to convert the opportunities we generate."
