The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Song
The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series by Critical Role, revealed an exciting introductory sequence. It features the beloved cast of misfits, misfits, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while teasing at several heart-wrenching backstories for key figures including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, the character Fjord.
All in all, the intro looks stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that something was missing in the music selection.
This sequence uses "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar song created by artist the talented musician. It's a track from the official score of the same name, the second release put out by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic choice, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will love its inclusion.
But for me, The series' intro fails to capture the hype and energy that accompanied the second campaign's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", written by singer-songwriter the artist, was an instant classic for me when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it only got better when cast member the performer wrote words to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.
Including singing from one actress, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the track was memorable and fun. Back then, I hadn't even watched the second campaign yet, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you dive into an installment of adventurous fun.
The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the right notes for me. It's a grand composition, but from what I know of this party, I can't help but feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.
Of course, the creators has stated that the series will have a few surprises and differences from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its intro seems to be among these.
This animated adventure will be available to watch on Prime Video from November 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to get to know the characters of the second series, the actual play are available on the audio platform and the video site.
