Who Were Selected for The Expert's Premier League Team of the Week?

After every set of top-tier English matches this season, sports analyst Troy Deeney shares his select XI and Manager of the Week.

Goalkeeper

Guglielmo Vicario (Spurs): Even though finishing on the losing side versus the Blues, his colleagues left him exposed. He faced 18 attempts, nine directed at goal, with an expected goals of over three for the opposition yet he made crucial saves. He didn't quit for his side.

Backline

Nico O'Reilly (Manchester City): This youngster is frightening. Usually a midfield engine, he slots in intelligently at full-back. His performance in the win against Bournemouth stood out, establishing him as a rising talent.

Gabriel (the Gunners): A constant menace, he contributed to a further shutout for Arsenal. He remains a handful from dead-ball situations, just being there was decisive in the triumph at Burnley. Rival teams are intimidated by him.

Jean-Clair Todibo (the Hammers): Selected for a couple of factors: his team's victory and his composed, confident display. While the Magpies were not at their best, he stood out in possession and settled the play. Following a few uncertain displays, he seems to have grown under boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Ryan Sessegnon (the Cottagers): He ignited the side in the victory over Wolverhampton. Outstanding in attack and reliable all season, he has added goals recently. Fantastic to see him healthy and performing.

Midfielders

Moises Caicedo (the Blues): The sole engine no one can dispute. Crucial for Chelsea, he stood as the top tackler. An energizer, he drives the team ahead. Perhaps the finest defensive mid in world football.

Declan Rice (the Gunners): Another pivotal performance versus Burnley. An absolute beast, he netted and excels from set-pieces. As playing lesser teams, he regains stamina and makes forward surges. Important to unleash him.

Ryan Gravenberch (the Reds): He pushed forward, scoring against a poor Villa side. His skill to control the game with and without the ball, along with his awareness and tackling, made him essential to the win.

Forwards

Diego Gomez (Brighton): He netted a brace against United, but his style was graceful dribbling by defenders. Moving with pace and power, he was preferred over teammate Danny Welbeck on the day.

Erling Haaland (Manchester City): What more can be said about this phenomenon? Each occasion he broke through, you expected a score. He never looked to be off target. The ruler has returned. After summer talk about other strikers, the Norwegian reigns supreme. He might shatter scoring records this year.

Rayan Cherki (Manchester City): Playing as a right winger suits him best. Incredibly ambidextrous, uncommon since Santi Cazorla. He can take free-kicks equally well. A gifted footballer, he looks fit post-recovery. His link-up with Haaland is evidently why he was signed.

Manager

Nuno Espirito Santo (West Ham): Haven't seen it, check out his celebration the third goal versus the Magpies. It demonstrates how much it matters for him and the squad. He knows they are under pressure, but they must persevere and secure results.
